Brunelleschi’s Dome is one of the most famous landmarks in modern Florence. Thousands of visitor’s climb up it every year to the viewing platform on the top. Few are aware of the Humanist principles of civic pride and embellishment of Renaissance Florentine’s beloved city. “This architecture of Humanism was produced by a marriage with technical and aesthetic skills” (Holmes, 177) and Brunelleschi was the creator of this new style, the pioneer of the scientific principles used to raise the dome.
